The Trax Play is a very small GPS tracker disc for kids, pets and assets which can be very useful to track the location of virtually anybody and anything. The Trax Play GPS tracker can be attached to the person, animal or vehicle (even a drone, or any piece of equipment you want to track) or just slipped into a pocket or a compartment in your teenager’s car.
This little GPS tracker can send notifications when your child of any age leaves (or enters) a specific zone. You, as a parent, control this functionality using the Trax App to set geo-fences around certain areas.
The other very useful functionality is of course the speed tracking functionality. You can use the TrxPlay app to set speed limits on the GPS tracker. Then, when these limits are crossed you will receive a notification on your phone (or computer).
Furthermore, you can use the app to do historical tracking of the device, i.e. to find out where the device has been over the past 24 hours.
If you need a GPS tracker for kids when travelling to different countries outside the US, then this is probably the best tracking device for you: it supports tracking in many countries.
Apart from these functionalities, the Trax Play GPS tracker for kids focuses on LIVE tracking by sending location pins every 15 seconds (which you can customize). You can therefore track the movement of the Trax Play GPS tracker for kids on a map in real time.
We have done the research for you on the following features and functionalities:
Accessories: Yes. A rubber belt and collar clip are provided with the tracker.
Alarm Clock: No
Battery Life: about 72 hours or longer depending on the tracking frequency.
The battery life of this GPS tracker for kids can be extended drastically by reducing the tracking frequency from the default setting of every 15s to every minute. However, you will probably still end up having to charge the battery daily.
Colors: Blue and magenta
Discreet: Can be 100% discreet, depending on where you attach it.
Simply based on the look of tracking devices, some are much more discreet than others. The main purpose of personal tracking is to track the location of the wearer without strangers noticing it. In the case of a crime situation (for example, a kidnapping) a tracking device would most definitely be removed immediately if recognized. You can attach non-wearable GPS trackers for kids (discs) much more discreetly than wearables.
Phone Functionality: No.
SOS Button: No
Dimensions: 2.2″(length) x 1.5″(width)
Tamper Proof: Could be 100% tamper proof if the wearer is not aware of the presence of the tracker.
In the case of young children, the elderly or special needs children a tamper-proof device would be most valuable. However, even though many Kids’ devices claim to be tamper-proof, they might just be slightly difficult to get off. The non-wearable tracking devices are normally more difficult to remove than the wearables.
Text Messaging: No.
A single LED light is the only display on this GPS tracker for kids, pets and assets. This light displays the most important information regarding the state of the tracker: signal strength, battery life, etc by bleeping a certain number of times.
Tracking Range: Good
The Trax Play GPS tracker for kids has no maximum tracking range – it makes use of satellite technology to determine the tracker’s location, and GPRS networks to send this information to the Trax servers. This means that as long as the Trax Play device is in one of the countries Trax supports, and has a GPS and GPRS connection, it will continue to send location notifications to the mobile app.
